Downtown: the river rail
The Corner Bar at The Peabody (149 Union Avenue) posts the simplest board in the directory: daily 4–7 PM with $5 well liquor, $5 house wine, $5 domestic beer, and $5 local beer. On the river, Terrace at The River Inn (50 Harbor Town Square) posts Tuesday–Friday 5–6:30 PM with $6 well drinks, house wines, and prosecco, plus $6 small plates — toasted raviolis, southwestern egg rolls, and spinach and artichoke dip. Downtown is the district for a sure thing: daily clocks, flat numbers, the river outside.
East Memphis: the Poplar spread
East Memphis trades the flat rail for a fuller board. Fuego Vivo (5110 Poplar Avenue) posts Monday–Friday 3–6 PM: house wines $8 per glass, domestic draft beer $3 pint, signature cocktails $10 each, with bites from hamachi $14 and chicken empanadas $10 to corn tempura $9 and taco flight $16. Char (431 S Highland St) posts Monday–Friday 3–6 PM with $5 draft beer, $7 featured wines, $9 classic cocktails, and bites from $11 — onion rings $11, tenderloin tip skewers $11, crab cake $12.50. Poplar is the play for a seated hour where the food is half the point.
